The EPICA FRP Closed Cartridge Kit gives riders better front-end control, improved damping consistency, and a more connected feel on the track. The system upgrades the stock KYB fork into a premium closed cartridge design focused on stability, comfort, and hydraulic control.
The EPICA system performs in motocross, supercross, off-road racing, GP terrain, and aggressive recreational riding. It improves braking stability, cornering confidence, bump absorption, and consistency during long motos or rough conditions.
Unlike a traditional open cartridge fork, the EPICA closed cartridge system utilizes a dedicated damping chamber designed to deliver a more controlled and consistent hydraulic feel. The latest FRP version now incorporates a Free Piston pressure management system focused on maintaining predictable damping characteristics during aggressive riding conditions.
As a result, the fork maintains a more predictable and controlled feel throughout the ride.
Technology Overview
The EPICA KYB 48mm Cartridge Kit uses a high-performance closed cartridge design to improve damping precision and hydraulic consistency. The system increases support during aggressive riding while maintaining comfort and traction on rough terrain.
The updated FRP architecture replaces the previous bladder-style compensation system with a Free Piston design engineered to support stable and predictable damping performance during repeated impacts and demanding riding conditions.
In addition, the cartridge design improves oil flow control through precision-machined internal components and refined hydraulic management. This creates a more planted front-end feel and improves rider confidence during braking and corner entry.
The closed cartridge structure promotes more consistent hydraulic control throughout long motos and demanding riding conditions.

– PDS system has up to 12 different adjustments for the end stroke stiffness.
High Speed compression piston is reversible with a large range of settings.
– Machined from premium 7075 and 6060 alloys and hard anodized.
– Reversible High Speed compression piston outer diameter = 38 mm.
– Side A (Flat valve surface) 34mm OD shims for motocross and enduro.
– Side B (Convex valve surface) 32mm OD shims for supercross.
Option to configure Low Speed Valve (LSV) on compression base valve.
Cartridge rod diameter = 14 mm (for an increased oil flow).
Rebound piston diameter = 25mm for better hydraulic control.
Compression high/low speed shims ID 12 mm.
Maximum travel = 310 mm.
Maximum shim diameter for Mid-Valve By-pass = 21 mm.
Ability to set Mid-Valve float clearance with the stack shims.
Mid-Valve/By-pass floating shim ID = 6 mm (for a controlled response on braking bumps).
Rebound shims ID = 6 mm (uses triangular mid-valve shims designed to reduce oil turbulence on compression).
Low friction NBR bottom seal.
Ability to extend the cartridge through the nylon washers.
